AACTE, “Day on the Hill,” June 6, 2017, Dirksen Senate Building. Here we are gathered, with some of my great Midwest colleagues, from the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education / AACTE for the Day on the Hill Conference. Including, President of the Illinois Chapter, Barbara O’Donnell, and our Government Relations and Advocacy Director, Deborah Koolbeck. Today we meet in our respective Congressional offices in advocacy for teacher education (Todd A. Price, Ph.D., National Louis University).
June 7, 2017, Congressman Brett Guthrie is given a standing ovation by the members for rescinding the ‘Teacher Preparation Programs Regulations.’ President and Chief Executive Officer, AACTE, Lynne M. Gangone provided the Congressman from Kentucky an award. He made the well appreciated statement, ‘let the professionals be professional,’ in explaining his advocacy for the teacher education profession.
