Community Engagement Curriculum Module

Institution: National Louis University

Description:

We are interested in advancing community engagement (including civic education and service learning). This research involves creating a module in the educational foundations area to be shared with teacher preparation program chairs and faculty for possible inclusion in coursework, including field experiences. Specifically, we are surveying a sampling of university faculty, program chairs, and practitioners in our P-12 community. Our intention is to collaboratively identify and upload resources, assignments, and activities into a community engagement curriculum module that supports teacher preparation in the National College of Education.

We are also interested in growing and sustaining our university presence and participation in scholarly professional education organizations and conferences, such as the American Educational Research Association (AERA) SIG-Service Learning and Experiential Education, International Association for Research on Service Learning and Civic Engagement (IARSLCE), American Association for the Advancement of Curriculum Studies (AAACS), and Indiana University-Purdue University Assessment Institute.
